  • Altmetric.com (BioMed Central Membership tool)  Icon
Altmetric highlights media interest generated by your institution's research. BioMed Central has added Altmetric scores and badges to the trending articles tab on an institution's BioMed Central Membership page. The Altmetric.com tool tracks how many times your article is mentioned in social media sites, blogs and news sources to measure how interesting the publication is to the community. The Altmetric score increases as more people mention an article. The 'donut' badge on the left side of the above image displays when an article has been tracked by Altmetric.com and received coverage. The colours surrounding the donut represent the sources mentioning that article - blue for Twitter, yellow for blogs, red for mainstream media, etc. If an article has not been tracked, this means it has yet to receive coverage.
